TighterGet the target

How many fit inside a playing card?

Print the Tighter target, shoot it, then photograph it at the bench. Tighter finds every hole, measures your group, and shows it against something you already know the size of.

The iPhone app is coming to the App Store. The target is free either way.

TIGHTER TARGET v1 · tighter.loriccoandco.com

0/10

inside a playing card, at 7 yards

From the range to the number

  1. Print the target

Free, Letter or A4, almost no ink. Print at 100% and measure the 2-inch bar once so every inch stays an inch.

  2. Shoot it

Like any other target. Keep the distance and shot count the same each visit and your visits become comparable.

  3. Photograph it at the bench

Tighter finds the four corner squares, flattens the photo and marks every hole. Holes that touch get flagged for you to confirm. It never guesses a count.

  4. See it against a playing card

The paper fades, a card drops in at true size, and you get the count. Next visit, your first group shows up dashed underneath today's.

Plate to quarter

Every group gets a rung: the smallest everyday thing that holds the whole group. Everybody starts somewhere on this row. Drawn here at true relative size.

What it measures

Inside a playing card
Hits inside a real 2.5 × 3.5 inch card, centred where you aimed. Swap the card for a CD, a plate or a quarter.
Group size
The smallest circle around every hole, centre to centre. One definition, used everywhere.
Smaller than your first
Same target, same distance, group diameter against your first. Shown the moment you earn it.
The trend
Your last three groups against the three before: improving, holding steady or slipping. Until you have six, it says it's too early.

What it won't do

Tell you why
A group's shape doesn't prove what your hands did, so Tighter measures the paper and leaves the coaching to you and your instructor. Your notes go next to each target.
Upload your photos
The scan runs on your phone. The photo isn't even kept unless you turn that on. No account.
Flatter you
A target with unconfirmed shots says so, on screen and on the card. Different distances never get compared. Seven of ten never becomes seven of seven.

Share the card, not the photo

Cards carry the holes, the number and the distance. No photo, no place, no time of day. Bring someone along and Together hides the names until you both guess whose target is whose, and makes a joint card only when you both say yes.
