The short version
Tighter is made by LoRicco & Co. It has no accounts, no analytics, no advertising and no servers of its own. Your targets are scanned on your phone and stored on your phone. The only information that leaves your device is what Apple and RevenueCat need to process a subscription, and anything you choose to share.
What stays on your phone
- Your targets. For each target Tighter saves the measured hole positions, the distance and shot count you entered, the date, the object you compared against, and any notes you write. These are kept in a file inside the app, protected by iOS file encryption.
- People. The first names you add for yourself and anyone you shoot with, and a colour for each.
- Photos. The photo of your target is processed on your phone to find the holes. By default it isn't kept afterwards: Tighter keeps only the hole positions. If you turn on Keep target photos in Settings, the photo is saved inside the app, still only on your phone. Turning the setting off deletes the photos it kept.
- Settings. Default distance and shot count, your measured print scale, the share-card style you picked, and how many free automatic scans you have used this month.
Like other app data, this file is included in your iPhone's iCloud or computer backup if you have backups turned on. Apple handles those backups under its own privacy policy; Tighter can't read them.
What Tighter never collects
No email, phone number, contacts, location, health data, advertising identifier or usage analytics. Tighter never asks what firearms you own and never stores the time or place of a range visit beyond the date of each target. We don't sell data and there's no third-party advertising.
Permissions
- Camera, to photograph your target. Asked the first time you scan. Without it you can still pick a photo or mark holes by hand.
- Add to Photos, to save a share card when you tap Save. This is add-only: Tighter can't see or read your photo library.
- Choosing a photo of a target uses Apple's photo picker, which gives Tighter only the one photo you pick and doesn't need library access.
Sharing
Nothing is shared unless you tap Share or Save. Share cards contain the reconstructed holes, the number and the distance; they never contain the photo, a location or a time. A Together card also shows the two first names, and Tighter only makes one after both people agree. Where a card goes after you share it is up to you and the app you send it to. If you share to Instagram Stories, the card is handed to Instagram through the system pasteboard, which Tighter sets to expire after five minutes.
Purchases
Tighter Pro is sold through Apple's In-App Purchase and managed with RevenueCat, a subscription service. When you buy, restore or renew, RevenueCat receives the purchase receipt from Apple and a random, anonymous app user ID so your Pro access can be recognised. Tighter never sees your Apple ID, name, email or payment details. RevenueCat's handling of that data is described in its privacy policy. On the App Store privacy label this appears as Purchase History, used for app functionality, not linked to you and not used to track you.
Deleting your data
- Delete a single target from its detail screen.
- Delete a person in Settings, which deletes their targets and any photos kept for them.
- Delete the app to remove everything Tighter stored on your phone.
Purchase records held by Apple and RevenueCat follow their policies. If you want us to ask RevenueCat to delete the anonymous record for your device, email us.
Children
Tighter is meant for adults. It isn't directed at children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect anything from them.
Changes
If Tighter ever adds something that collects data (crash reports or analytics, for example), this page and the App Store privacy label will be updated first, with the new date at the top.
